Bald Eagle Tracking Project - Week 5

During week #5 most of the immature eagles stayed in the vicinity of where they were last week. Blue is still in southern New Jersey, while red has settled in at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Green is still in Calvert County in the Parkers Creek area. We were concerned about this immature eagle, since she had not moved since settling in this area at the end of the first week after release. On Monday, DNR biologists went down to the area and found Green alive and well.

It must have found a great spot to live! Yellow spent most of the week along the Potomac River in Charles County, where it was last week. It moved to the Virginia shoreline of the Potomac River on July 1. The preceeding text was provided by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

NEW!! Please visit our Eagle Map Gallery to see other maps of the eagle movements. The gallery contains maps of the eagle movements plotted on shaded relief maps that show local topography as well as eagle movements shown on a satellite image of the bay region which illustrates the types of landcover the eagles are living near.

This map was updated on 7/03.
With each update, new locations may not be available for each of the four birds. To conserve battery power and reduce satellite communications costs the transmitters are not on continuously.
