Bald Eagle Tracking Project - September 2003

Red left the Sassafrass River in early September, after spending over 3 months there. Red spent most of September along the cliffs of Calvert County MD, and along the Patuxent river also in Calvert County. By late September Red had moved out over to the easter shore of MD and VA and began the long trip south. Green again spent the month along the Ptomac and Rappahannock rivers with a short trip to Maryland's eastern shore at Dorchester County.

Yellow spent September on Lake Gaston in northern North Carolina, where it spent most of the previous two months. Yellow did take a short trip to an area just west of Raleigh NC.

Please visit our Eagle Map Gallery to see other maps of the eagle movements. The gallery contains maps of the eagle movements plotted on shaded relief maps that show local topography as well as eagle movements shown on a satellite image of the bay region which illustrates the types of landcover the eagles are living near.

With each update, new locations may not be available for each of the birds. To conserve battery power and reduce satellite communications costs the transmitters are not on continuously.
