Where is it found?

Flooded Grasslands and Savannas, also known as "Wetlands", are habitats that are covered for at least part of the year by water. The water that floods these habitats may come from rain, tidal flows, flooding rivers, or groundwater. Wetlands are found throughout the world in flat, low-lying areas and in areas between water and dry land. They can be found in nearly every county and climatic zone in the United States. Many of the coastal areas surrounding the Chesapeake Bay are considered "wetland habitats".

The map below highlights some of the largest wetland systems on the planet. These include the Everglades in Florida; the Pantanal area of Brazil (the planet's largest tropical wetlands spanning 250,000 square kilometers); the Sahelian savanna in Nigeria and Chad (Africa); the Sudd region of the Sudan (Africa); and the Zambezian Flooded Savannas in Tanzania and Zambia (Africa).
